When checking the statistics for this website
(You should do it also every now and then)
by hitting the blue button with the red
graph, I find that more and more non Dutch
speaking persons find their way to this forum.
If and when you have specific problems with
a moped bike powered by the Solex engine
do not hesitate to ask for a problem solver.
Any other moped questions that may arise also could get an answer though that may take a short while because the right specialists may need to be contacted.

The trick is that you have to heat the piston using a mild torch or electric heater.
The aluminum has a higher rate of thermal expansion than the steel so the steel will come loose.
make sure to use tools or protective glooves to avoid burns.

Hi Everyone. This is my first visit having just acquired a 3800 from a 'Troc' in southern France. I'd like to know how old it is, so can anyone tell me whether it is possible to determine the year of manufacture from the engine number?

Its got 3928779 stamped into the crankcase.

Looking forward to hearing from someone soon!

All the engine numbers using 7 digits are french made, you should be able to trace the information using french web-sites ( the previous message has an appendix="bijlage" which may link you to the right URL.

Dutch made solex' es ( Made by vd Heem under a french license) are using 6 digit engine numbers ( smaller market)
and all have a cast-in designation " v d Heem"
This forum ( drop down menu on starter page - so exit the forum- has a table relating engine numbers to year of manufacture)
